I'm late, I'm late...

FP & Cara Lockwood

I'm not sure a single tie here is cut, just so you know.
Cutting the Ties is weird. Usually it's the absolute middle book where nothing happens and then by book 5 (installment five?) we should be racing to the end with things unfolding left and right. Yeah, um, nothing happens.
Lila's still pregnant and is now almost unable to fit into her clothes, so you'd think a lot of time had passed, right? Yet with other characters it's as if no time has passed at all. *head tilt* Anyway, she still refuses to tell Ken that she's pregnant and he's still not talking to her and Francine and Cara (though I'm going to lay the blame here on Francine) still have no freakin' clue how a reality show works. Nope, you're going to hear that complaint until we end this travesty, I'm sorry to say. If I have to deal with reading about it, so do you.
The only new thing we learn from this is that Lila's morning sickness is severe enough that she needs meds to deal with it. Meds Jessica picks up, meaning that only Jess, Lila, and Enid know she's pregnant. Lila also admits she's considering terminating the pregnancy, but I will be legitimately upset if this happens because I think Lila would be a great mother. But that's a thing for another time.
Bruce and Annie are still in France and Annie's chosen not to sleep with him and he goes off into a rage where stuff breaks and Annie begins to wonder if maybe he did black out and assault Robin. And then she talks to his shrink who doesn't think Bruce is bipolar. Annie, I'm going to say this as nicely as possible, you are bad for Bruce. Really, really bad for him. You bring out the worst in him and you revel in it because it makes you relive the better parts of your HS experience, with him. Only everyone keeps calling it a quickie and honey, you need to move on. Now. Because this is just sad, and I'm still not buying you being a Super Lawyer at 30. Just so you know.
Liz gets a Caroline update that insinuates that Annie and Bruce are together. Woo? Anyway, Liz goes to Robin's hometown where we learn that no one really has anything to say about Robin. You know, except that she's a lesbian.
Left field, is it your play already?
Aaron finds out that Robin was working at Warner as Mona Thomas. She was fired six months ago, apparently embezzling funds to fuel her drug habit. Dun. Dun. DUN.
Oh, and Jessica has a run of bad luck with men. She and Micheal spark, but over the weekend he cools off considerably. She goes out with a nice guy whose description is a dead ringer for Steven's back in the day (or... I guess Todd's, but without the floppy hair?) which was weird. But then he blows her off. There is a moment when Jessica decides she's going to fight for Todd, finally. She realizes that if she was willing to risk her relationship with Elizabeth, who is her most important link in the series, then dude, who the fuck cares about Liam or Sarah? Jessica's going to go down fighting. If only she were in possession of half the fire she held in any other series...
At work, she gets yanked off a big account when there's a FB leak that pisses Maybelline off. Jessica suspects Emily did it but doesn't know why (your unkind thoughts not enough, Wakefield?) and then another coworker points out that she's Tracy's (the woman at work who wants Jessica GONE) best friend's daughter. Yeah. That's probably information she should have had upfront. Sabatoge!
I can't figure out the timeline. We pick up with Annie and Bruce making out, and the Michael/Jessica flirtation is still very new, but we're having Lila just about to need maternity clothing. Confuddled.
Soo... on the plus side, this installment didn't make my head explode too often. On the downside, it didn't really make me want to read the final 'book' either. So there's that.
